As international shipping accelerates its shift toward defossilisation, demand for green ammonia, green methanol, and other PtX-derived fuels is set to grow rapidly. This creates a significant economic opening for South Africa, whose ports, renewable energy potential, and strategic location place it in a strong position to supply these fuels to global markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Becoming a green maritime fuels hub could unlock major socio-economic gains for South Africa. It offers pathways for large-scale job creation, new skills development, industrial growth and local economic stimulation in port-adjacent regions.
