Main activities

  • Supporting the environment, climate, and energy cluster of GIZ Jordan with a focus on green hydrogen / renewable PtX on regulation, technologies, and sustainability
  • Technical and conceptual advice to the Jordanian partner institutions on green hydrogen and PtX
  • Supporting the identification, operational planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities in Jordan
  • Preparation of tender documents for subcontracts to research and consulting institutions, as well as coordination and steering of the consulting institutions
  • Mapping, monitoring, knowledge management of – and reporting on – policy development, market development, funding schemes and regulation on PtX in Jordan
  • Participation in committees and initiatives on the topic of PtX in Jordan
  • Conception, preparation, implementation and evaluation of information, dialogue, and training events on hydrogen and PtX, as well as establishment of local networks
  • Coordination with other GIZ projects, as well as with projects of other donors in the fields of climate, energy, and mobility
  • Support of project communication activities, e.g., blogposts, newsletters, and publications
  • Coordination and cooperation with the PtX Hub core team in Europe
  • Support knowledge management, participation in the working groups of the international project team and report on project activities
  • Where appropriate and reasonable, the position holder is willing to perform tasks out-side the scope of the job description

Qualifications and specialist knowledge

  • University qualification (Master’s degree or comparable) in the field of economics, business, energy, environmental or political sciences, industrial engineering or similar
  • At least five years of professional experience, preferably in the energy sector or policy consulting
  • Sound knowledge of the Jordanian energy market as well as its energy policies and a sound understanding of the region
  • Experience in working with Jordanian authorities and a broad network of contacts in Jordan
  • Knowledge and experience in climate policy, preferably related to PtX or green hydro-gen
  • Affinity for policy and technical advice, high political sensitivity
  • Strong communication skills, also in an intercultural context, quick comprehension, and the ability to process complex technical content
  • Above-average communication and cooperation skills, willingness to assume responsibility, strong interdisciplinary thinking
  • Business fluency in Arabic and English, knowledge of German is an advantage
