Green hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX) projects are likely to raise expectations, for example in terms of job creation, access to clean energy, water supply, capacity sharing and technology transfer. However, PtX projects are not always associated with positive impacts on a country’s population. When planning and implementing a PtX project, early and continuous involvement of the affected communities<\/strong> helps the project to acquire and maintain a ‘social licence to operate’. The sixth sustainability briefing<\/strong> illustrates the benefits of stakeholder participation <\/strong>using real-life examples. It outlines general steps for a stakeholder engagement process <\/strong>and provides recommendations for planning and implementing two-way communication<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The briefing is aimed at policy makers, regulators and other stakeholders<\/strong> looking for an introduction to stakeholder participation in the context of PtX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
