Jointly with Hinicio and Dii Desert Energy, the PtX Hub warmly welcomes you to join our session at the extended programme of this year’s European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW). The session will discuss the effects of the current EU regulations on the hydrogen market ramp up. We will focus on the perspective of countries that will be exporting hydrogen to the EU, especially emerging economies.

Date September 22, 2022
Time 1:30 – 3:00 pm CEST
Register via www.eusew.eu

The session’s overall objective is to explore the EU’s regulatory framework on hydrogen, as defined in its Fit for 55 package and proposed Renewable Energy Directive Delegated Acts on the production of renewable hydrogen from electricity.

More specifically, the session will aim to understand:

  1. To what extent can the ambitious demands of the EU regulatory framework on hydrogen (e.g. additionality and geographic and temporal correlation) be met by project owners (existing plants and their value chains), as well as the developing and emerging partner countries (i.e. with existing regulations and market mechanisms) in which they are based?
  2. What are the obstacles faced and potential opportunities?
  3. What are the solutions, which can be translated into policy?

The audience will gather an understanding of:

  • The implications of the EU regulation (including RED Delegated Acts)  for their own country or working context.

The session is primarily intended for policy makers (in both EU and partner country contexts) and local project developers.
