Webinar: Developing a sustainable carbon carrier for PtX use in Namibia

When it comes to climate neutral Power-to-X (PtX) products identifying the most sustainable carbon sourcing method is of great importance. In Namibia, biomass from bush encroachment is widely available and provides a local source while contributing to bush control and biodiversity. But how can the efficiency and sustainability of this carbon carrier be maximised in line with the country’s overall defossilisation goals?

To dive into these questions, our Namibian team and experts from the GFA Consulting Group and the GIZ project ‘Bush Control and Biomass Utilisation (BCBU)’ presented the findings of the recently launched study 'Development of a sustainabe carbon carrier for PtX use: from Namibia to a global market' in a webinar on 22 November 2023:

  • Opening remarks – Namibia’s pathway towards green industrialisation
by James Mnyupe, Green Hydrogen Commissioner Namibia
  • Introducing GIZ in Namibia – the International PtX Hub & the Bush Control and Biomass Utilisation (BCBU) project
by Simon Inauen, Head of Green Energy and Hydrogen Programme, & Johannes Laufs, Project Manager BCBU
  • Carbon carrier for PtX: Introduction and strategic overview, carbon sourcing & biomass utilisation, the Hybrid Biomass PtX Process, economic viability & strategic planning, roadmap for future development
