Thursday, June 24: Sustainable Aviation Fuels for Clean Skies?
Jointly organised with the World Economic Forum
The future of flying must be green. In recent decades, aviation has been the fastest growing transport sector. Yet, it accounts for approximately 4% of global carbon emissions and 12% of all CO2 emissions from the wider transportation sector. Moreover, non-CO2 emissions form up to two thirds of its climate impact. This comes alongside a variety of hazardous environmental and health effects. How can future fuels such as Power-to-Liquid/eFuels contribute to a sustainable transformation? What are the limits of technological pathways? And how can sustainable aviation fuels represent a chance for GIZ’s partner countries to tap into economic potentials? Moderated by the Director of GIZ’s International PtX Hub, Torsten Schwab, leading voices from the World Economic Forum, GIZ, Transport & Environment, Deutsche Post DHL Group and Neste will discuss how aviation should “go green”. As this is an interactive event, members of the audience are invited to raise their voices and pose questions to the panelists.
When? 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm Europe/Africa UTC +2 // 6:00 – 6:30 pm Asia/Latin America UTC +8/-6
