Jordan is continuously pushing towards its goal of building a green economy and embracing new and innovative technologies to achieve its sustainability goals. Green hydrogen and renewable Power-to-X have the potential to play a crucial role in realising this vision – providing a sustainable energy solution which supports the country’s transition to a carbon-neutral economy.

Moreover, with the abundance of renewable energy sources in the region such as solar and wind, Jordan could become a major producer of green hydrogen and PtX products. To build these new PtX value chains, Jordan needs a knowledgeable and skillful workforce with strong expertise in different Power-to-X aspects.

Green Hydrogen and Power-to-X course for Professional Technicians and Engineers

To start this necessary capacity development, an agreement to develop a course entitled “Green Hydrogen and Power-to-X for Professionals (Technicians and Engineers)” has been reached between the Al Hussein Technical University, represented by its President, Prof. Dr. Ismail Al-Hinti, with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) through the International PtX Hub, enabled by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK).

The project aims to develop the technical and professional skills of technicians and engineers in Jordan to qualify them for the local, regional and global labour market in the field of green hydrogen and different PtX technologies.

The course will be offered to technicians and engineers of the public and private sector in Jordan as well as academic staff from local Jordanian universities, as part of the German Energy Academy (GEA) in Jordan and supported by the Al Hussein Technical University.

To align the course with the actual needs of the emerging PtX markets, several workshops with policy makers and representatives of the private sector will be held to integrate academic and professional expertise.
