On the 25th of March, the Africa Solar Industry Association (AFSIA) held the an online conference on “Green Hydrogen in Africa”. Our expert Frank Mischler joined the panel “Commercial consideration of green H2 in Africa” together with moderator Dr. Thomas Hillig and speaker Eric Dabe of John Cockerill.
He emphasised that for most African countries exporting hydrogen to Europe may not be the best initial step. Rather, they should prioritise domestic uses of hydrogen to make a direct contribution to the development of their country and their net-zero strategy. Once the capacity for producing and handling hydrogen and its derivatives grows and the world market is more mature, they might also explore export opportunities.
