Sustainability Briefing #5: Skills & jobs in the context of Power-to-X
Analyses that examine the job potential in Power-to-X (PtX) value chains identify between 50 and 200 specific roles. In terms of the skills associated with needed job profiles, technical (e.g. materials engineering, metalworking) and non-technical skills (e.g. construction site management, commercial negotiations) are required. The fifth sustainability briefing provides a brief overview of the job profiles and skills as well as employment potentials along the PtX value chain. In addition, it assesses the role of education systems and presents exemplary measures for skills and job development.
The briefing is aimed at policy makers, regulators and other stakeholders looking for an introduction to jobs and skills in the context of PtX.
More on key aspects of PtX sustainability
When designing green hydrogen and PtX value chains and policy frameworks, key elements of sustainability must be taken into account to ensure long-term positive impacts for all stakeholders involved. Our sustainability briefings shed light on environmental, social and economic development opportunities that must be considered for a successful market ramp-up. The briefings were developed in cooperation with experts from the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy.
