Green hydrogen could transform Southeast Asia’s remote islands from diesel-dependent energy users into clean, self-sufficient communities. A feasibility study on Thailand’s Koh Munnork showed that combining solar power, batteries, and hydrogen storage can reliably replace diesel generation, cut emissions, and lower long-term costs—offering a scalable blueprint for sustainable tourism and resilient island energy systems across the region.
